Very interesting finding. When Bcl-2 is given free reign, c-Myc activity increases, APE1 activity decreases, and DNA Repair decreases.

There are many fields of research this would impinge on, but something that I have in mind is that feeding-related reductions in apoptosis-mediators may downregulate DNA repair. In other words, cells which rely on nutrients and hormones to "survive" and stay away from apoptosis may downregulate DNA Repair. Sound silly? I would keep an open mind. I have some ideas......but some cards I will keep close to the vest! I won't get too hypothetical at the moment!

In any case, they found what they found.

In general, this would imply that there "good ways" and "bad ways" to go about modulating apoptosis.
