I would actually reserve judgment on this one.......My "gut" (pun intended) tells me it is probably bad, I would give it an 80% chance of being a "bad thing". However, it may not be that bad during "basal" signaling, and it may simply "exaggerate" intracellular correlates of insulin signaling during feeding.
The capacity of Akt phosphorylation is not a very good sign, though. There is a small chance that it is "better than insulin", though, as it may not induce all of the same changes that insulin does. But, the "cooperativity" and "synergism" does not bode well.

Identification of omentin as a novel depot-specific adipokine in human adipose tissue: possible role in modulating insulin action --=-==--==--=-=
"Addition of recombinant omentin in vitro did not affect basal but enhanced insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in both sc (+47%, n=9, p =0.003) and omental (n=3, +~30%, p<0.05) human adipocytes. Omentin increased AKT phosphorylation in the absence and presence of insulin. In conclusion, omentin is a new adipokine that is expressed in omental adipose tissue in humans and may regulate insulin action."
