There seems to be a "thermic effect of food" effect as well:

"Energy expended in physical activity was approximated as
the difference
between day and night EEs [(D-N) EE]; however, this would
also include the
thermic effect of food."

"There was no effect of CR on the physical activity of these
monkeys (mean
difference = 10 kcal; p = 0.61). Adjusting for FFM, physical
activity energy
expenditure did not differ between the CR and C monkeys
(mean difference
= -14 kcal; p = 0.63) with no significant interaction
(p=0.69) between age
and treatment. CR did not have an effect on (D-N) EE even
after adding FM
(p=0.86) to the model."
