This 2000 Science News article effectively makes us aware of that fact that our fellow primates have reduced rates of the nasty c-word (CANCER) when calorie-restricted:

... the National Institute on Aging (NIA) in Bethesda, Md., reported for the first time preliminary data suggesting that calorie-restricted monkeys are developing fewer chronic diseases, particularly cancer and endometriosis, than are monkeys that eat as much as they want.


Not sure how to put that any plainer!
