For all the jokes I make, I will confess that I decided to download his
book and give it a read. What can I say, I guess that makes a CR
junkie.
His book "The Immortalist Manifesto" could potentially serve as a
motivating force in someone's life who is looking for a "reason" to try and
adopt the "rigors" of a CRON program, if they happen to look at the situation
that way. It is interesting in that it details a lot of the nonsensical
contradictions in American public health care policy, and it attempts to
deconstruct existing cultural patterns and norms as being offgrowths of a
pathological "culture of death".
What is problematic is that it is all a big tease, as is his web site, as
is just about everything about the guy. Like some sideshow carnival
barker, he is always trying to generate interest about "what is behind the
curtain", and apparently to find out it is going to cost more money.
From what I can gather, he claims to be working on some sort
of "Chronicles", which will (or he hopes will) be published in the future.
This subsequent book is where the actual details of his life will
be "unveiled". The first chapter is posted on his web site.
What I find baffling is that he actually has a recommendation from Cornell
West for his book The Immortalist Manifesto! I guess Cornell would place
his imprimatur on anything that bashes the more repugnant aspects of
American crass consumerism and consumption. It seems this Elixxir is
capable of snagging some fairly impressive interviews and reviews through
his constant attempts at self-aggrandizement, considering he got the rec
from Cornell and he got interviewed by the National Science Foundation.

Has anyone actually seen a colour picture of him? Or maybe seen him on a tv talk show or something?
The only pic i've seen is his face floating in mid air... |
